It is understood Chelsea have scouted Ziyech extensively for three years, and might have made their move last summer were it not for their FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

Ziyech was available for €30 million at the time — a release clause that was removed when he signed a new contract in August 2019, which consisted of a pay rise rather than an extension. Other clubs were interested in acquiring him at that price, but the only serious approach last summer came from Sevilla, and Ziyech did not consider the move a significant step up from Ajax.

Many of Europe’s elite clubs also took a look, but none were totally convinced. Some scouting reports and statistical analysis raised doubts about Ziyech’s occasional tendency to take bad shots from long distance or give the ball away in bad areas. The number of wayward passes that went hand-in-hand with every eye-catching assist divided opinion.

More generally, Ziyech’s lean physique led some to question whether he has the required physicality to stand up to a more intense league. There were also concerns about his spikier personality traits, in addition to all the usual fears about whether Eredivisie production translates to a higher level.

A ja patrzę na to całkiem inaczej. Tierneya kupiliśmy kontuzjowanego i dobrze wiedzieliśmy na co się piszemy. Druga kontuzja barku była pechowa i powstała przy kontakcie z przeciwnikiem. Kieran gdy tylko grał to był bardzo groźny.
Kosmiczne wrzutki, bardzo dobre zrozumienie z Martinellim, napędzanie akcji i ogólna poprawa w stosunku do Kolasinaca, pomimo że Szkot tak naprawdę jeszcze nie wskoczył na swój poziom. Można się przyczepić do gry defensywnej, ale kto grał dobrze za Unaia w obronie?

Uważam transfer Tierneya za dobry i daleko mu do wtopy. Jeszcze będziemy mieć z niego sporo uciechy.

Czyli regularnie gramy w 9 na 11 na wyjazdach :-)

Plan na ten mecz był od początku jasny i całkiem nieźle go wykonywaliśmy. Efektem była dobra sytuacja Lacy już w drugiej minucie. Saka po raz kolejny dobrze grał i zaliczył dwie groźne wrzutki. Później Auba miał praktycznie 100% sytuację. W pełni kontrolowaliśmy mecz i wszystko wskazywało, że w końcu strzelimy bramkę. Nawet Xhaka zagrał fantastyczną piłkę do Pierre'a ale ten znowu nie wykorzystał naprawdę dobrej sytuacji. Tak naprawdę powinniśmy mieć wynik 2-0 po 30 minutach gry, jednak na tablicy wciąż widniało 0-0. Do idealnego planu Artety na ten mecz zabrakło jedynie wykończenia. Wszystko skomplikowała kontuzja i zmiana Saki, który kolejny raz dobrze sobie radził. Xhaka dobrze wszedł w buty młodszego kolegi na lewej obronie, ale straciliśmy ogromny atut ofensywny. Szwajcar znowu dobrze grał nie na swojej pozycji i pokazał, że trzyma równą formę u Mikela. W obronie mieliśmy trochę szczęścia, ale duet Mustafi - Luiz zagrał całkiem nieźle. Trzy miesiące temu w takim ustawieniu pewnie stracilibyśmy ze trzy bramki.

O ile plan na boisku był wykonany dobrze (zabrakło goli = wygranej), to ja jestem trochę niezadowolony z wyjściowej jedenastki. Na ten moment Lacazette'a musi usiąść na ławce nawet pomimo tego, że "inni stają się dzięki niemu lepsi na boisku". Francuz jest pod formą i chyba każdy to widzi. Drugie do czego bym się doczepił to wystawienie Ozila. Tak naprawdę, to już po ogłoszeniu składów wiedziałem, że Niemiec nie odmieni oblicza spotkania i tak też się stało.
