Arteta on Nwaneri’s lack of minutes: “Part of the journey for any player at this level. That's it. So, before he was the youngest player ever to come in this football club and now he's going through that patch. Face it, challenge it and go for it. That's it.”

Arteta on getting to the bottom of Bukayo Saka’s injury issues: “Well, there are a lot of factors. Obviously, the amount of play time he's played minutes is just incredible. So at that age in Europe in the last 30 years, there are very few that have played that many.

“So we need to maintain that consistency of protecting him as much as we possibly can in certain areas he needs to change. Our protocols we need to change certain habits as well in training to do that and then, yeah, sometimes you need a bit of luck.”

“No, I think what they need to do is be prepared like they've been, and when they have the opportunity to play, perform like any other play, there's no difference.

“There have been periods that they have played every three days, sometimes they've played too much. Noni [Madueke] has been injured for a while and we have to manage and monitor his load.

“The first few months we had some great moments with him, but there are some other moments that we need to improve. We are on that journey.

“Well, to be patient, to be demanding, to be supportive is a bit of everything. And both of them, the good thing is they want it so badly. I mean, the way they come in every single day and how much they want to give to the team and an impact.

“The game is great to witness and that's the mentality they need to maintain.”

On Rice: “Well, not yet (swelling on knee remains), and we have another session today. Let's see how he comes today and how that's feeling, but it was too early that game for him.

On Calafiori and Mosquera: “They are both out.”

Arteta on his first thought when he gets a fresh injury to his squad: “Well, first thing, what we can do better, and the second thing, that is the reality of the sport that we play in.

“But looking back in the last three seasons, we have less days of injuries than before. So, yeah, it's how you look at it. We had injuries that you have to separate, traumatic ones and the ones that are like muscle injuries and we have to improve. But we are better than some of the years.”

Arteta was asked by @TomCantonMedia if he regrets not taking Rice off earlier against Brighton: “No, no, no. He managed to do it. That's normal. Sometimes you get a hit and throughout the game, you are able to sustain that, because you are warm, and because you are adrenaline-driven.

“And then the body reacts and it reacted, probably more than we expected, unfortunately. And that's where we are.”
