Arsenal were pursuing a centre-back in January. Arteta wanted to add left-sided Nico Schlotterbeck to replace Pablo Mari, who joined Udinese on loan. Arsenal were advised his preference was to remain in Germany & a few weeks ago, he signed for Borussia Dortmund. [

Arsenal will still be in the market for a left-sided central defender, should an appropriate opportunity arise. As of yet, no clear plans have been communicated to William Saliba or his representatives. [

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still admired by Arsenal staff, but there are concerns after a difficult season due to injury & poor form. Arsenal are still following Tammy Abraham closely & he would be open to a return to London, but Roma have no interest in selling.

Arteta & Edu remain firm admirers of Lautaro Martinez, however, he prefers to play in a front two. Victor Osimhen is another player Arsenal have followed closely - there is also an acceptance that negotiating with Aurelio De Laurentiis could be challenging

Arsenal will hope that reports suggesting Man City could demand as much as £50m for Jesus is merely the start of a negotiation. The club acknowledge the centre-forward market is not one synonymous with great value & accept they will have a pay a premium price. [
