Mikel Arteta on Mertesacker leaving at the end of the season: “Well, it’s been 15 years at the club. We were team-mates, we were friends, we were captains together & we shared an incredible project together in different roles - him as an academy director & me as a manager.”
“He’s someone that I think transmits the values of this football club, its ambition & everything that is related to it in the best manner. We had a great time together & I wish him the best of luck for the next chapter, because I’m sure he’s going to be a success.”
Arteta on Saka: “Every position brings challenges and the opposition learns from you as well and they try to always stop you in the most efficient way and you need to have solutions against each opponent to be efficient and to beat him.
“In this season. He was always creating chances early on, but his numbers have really started to keep coming in recent weeks.
“I think the impact that Bukayo has consistently is remarkable. Very difficult to see a player playing this position constantly doing what he's doing. It's great for the team as well and the players around him to support that. But I think, again, this season has been really, really good.”
Arteta on winning the Carabao Cup and League double with Man City and what it can do for the title charge: “When you get to this stage in the competition, you get to the final and you get over the line and win it, it brings energy, it brings belief. And the sense that everybody is very important and playing part of that.
“So, yeah, I think it's something when you get there and win it, everybody remembers and if not, nobody does. So once you get there, get the job done.”
@Barney napisał: "Nie przypominam sobie ,zeby po takim gadaniu artety ostatnio ktos nagle byl w skladzie.
Pobożne zyczenia"
Gabriel;)
Arteta if he will look to bring in big hitters in the later stage of the Carabao Cup: “I think in our case, in my case, we cannot do that (rotate everyone) because obviously players have to be available to be able to pick them there.
“I don't believe in players for competitions. I believe that we have competition and we want to compete in all competition with the best moment of the players that we have in our resource and that's what we try to do.”
Arteta to @iamAlexHowell: “The more you are involved in these kind of games, the better because it gives you a nudge. It brings the team a different kind of energy. They sense that the objective is very, very close, and that's a massive motivation for everybody.
“So we know that we are two games away from playing a final. We have to go game by game, and the first one is Stamford Bridge, and we know we have a really tough opponent in front.”
Arteta on Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior on the sense that he wants to prove people wrong: “My motivation was to help the club and transform the football club. That was it, not to prove people wrong.
“In my case, it wasn't a motivation. Obviously, they know him really well because they have worked together with him for a few years now. So they made that decision based, for sure, because of his capacity and because they believe that he deserves and is the best person to lead that project.”
Arteta on the semi-final defeat to Newcastle last season: “Football gives you another chance. We've been really consistent again in the competition and now we have to knock another big team out of the competition to be in the final and that's the mission.
“Hopefully we learn from it. Last year, because it was painful, especially the manner that the game went and the amount of chances that we missed not to go through. But hopefully this year we are better and especially more efficient.”
@Mastec30 napisał: "No to chyba pierwsza mała skaza na HandofArsenal.
Arteta on Havertz: “Yes, obviously we missed him a lot. A year is a long time in football, but as you said, the way he's come back, he looks really fit, really confident. He's such an intelligent player that straight away he's someone that connects with the players really naturally.
“And you can tell how much they love him as well because every time he was in and around the box, everyone was jumping on the seat, on the bench.
“So, yeah, we are so happy to have him. He's going to help us so much and now we have to keep him fit.
“We have to manage his minutes now, but he had a good block of 20, 25 minutes the other day. He trained really well today again. It's now a case of building his robustness and make sure that he's available for every game.”

Team news update from Arteta:
Calafiori and Hincapie are out for tomorrow's game at Chelsea.
Saliba and Trossard are doubts.
Hincapie timeline unclear.
Calafiori still has a few weeks to go.
Dowman and Mosquera are evolving well, but not trained. Still a few weeks away.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Saliba and Trossard were NOT just rested against Portsmouth, and there are some fitness concerns over them. Not guaranteed to be involved against Chelsea.
Calafiori and Hincapie are "still out."
Confirmed: Simon Hooper has been appointed referee for Chelsea vs. Arsenal on Wednesday. Jarred Gillett is on VAR.

Liam Rosenior: “Arsenal are good at everything. You manage your one percents to be as good a team to win as many different ways as possible. I don’t know who’s calling them ‘Set Piece FC’, I’m definitely NOT.”
@HaytersTV
To Alonso popracował w Realu xD
Merino on the FA Cup: “Every game matters. For us, it doesn't matter if it's Carabao [Cup], FA [Cup], friendly. It's not only about the competition we're playing for. It's about we're playing for the [Arsenal] badge. We're playing for our reputation.
“Every game that we wear this shirt we have to do our best and we have to win and we have to put on a good performance so the main thing is show that we are Arsenal that we are ready to compete every single time and the rest will take care of itself.”
Arsenal’s record so far this season is 25-4-2.
✅ Top of the Premier League
✅ Top of the Champions League
✅ Carabao Cup semi-finalists
✅ FA Cup Fourth Round ✅
On course for a generational campaign under Mikel Arteta.
Mikel Merino on winning trophies: “The hunger is there and has been there for a long time. Sometimes it's a matter of details, a matter of situations, of minutes, of moments that doesn't let you win. But the hunger has been there and you can see it every training session and it will be there till the end of the season.”
Merino on the importance of set-pieces: “For us, it doesn't change. It's always the same. Same mentality, same hard work. Every training session, we practice it. Every game we go. With the same attitude, but obviously sometimes the ball goes in, sometimes it doesn't.
“We let you guys talk about it, but to be honest, it's our standards, our principles, we try to apply them and today we were lucky. It showed that the good work we do has some good results, so yeah, really happy for it.”
Merino on Arsenal’s squad depth: “You can see the depth in the squad. Obviously, when you make so many changes, sometimes can be tricky because we are not used to playing with each other and those connections are very, very important.
“But today you saw a team full of quality, a team full of attitude and hard work and that's the good thing. Everyone is involved, everyone is going to be important at the end of the season, and we all have to be ready on our toes because games come thick and fast and you never know when it's going to be your time.“
Merino on Martinelli: “We are really happy for him. He's a great guy. Everyone that knows him knows he's a really, really kind kid. He's always smiling. He's always kind with everyone. Obviously, you can see that today he came here with the best attitude and knowing he's a great professional as well. It doesn't matter the atmosphere around him. He's always focused on the team, on doing the best thing possible. We are very pleased that he's performing this way.
On the Bradley incident:
“Sometimes when you're on the pitch, you don't have all the clues, you don't have all the information and you can react in a certain way. Everyone knows how good of a kid he is and he never pretends to or tries to make someone feel bad. It's just a small mistake and he said sorry and the matter ends there.”
Merino on Havertz return: “Amazing! We're all buzzing for him to come back after a big, big injury. To have him around is so good for everyone, for the atmosphere in the training ground, for the support that he gives us as, having him around every training session and now having him on the pitch is one more asset, one more tool for the coach. Yeah, really happy for him.”
Mikel Arteta will hold his pre-Chelsea Carabao Cup press conference early Tuesday afternoon.
Updates expected on Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie. Catch it all on @HaytersTV.
Per Mertesacker on stepping down as Arsenal academy manager: “Arsenal is & will always be a very special club to me, so this was a difficult decision. Now it is time for me to move on & explore something new & push myself even further.”
“I am very thankful for the trust the club put in me when transitioning from a first-team player directly into the role as Head of Academy.”
“I remain focused on finishing the season strongly, continuing to nurture & develop our young talent & support a seamless transition until my very last day with the club.”
Richard Garlick (Arsenal CEO): “We support Per Mertesacker’s decision to pursue something new, but we will be incredibly sad to see him leave at the end of the season.”
“He understands what Arsenal stands for & this has been a constant in his leadership - inspiring our academy coaches, staff & young players in an Arsenal way & giving so many an opportunity to develop & shine.”
“We’re happy that Per remains in role until the end of the season whilst we focus on our succession plan. We continue in our pursuit of winning major trophies with a sustained focus & investment in our academy.”

At present, there is no urgent need for Arsenal to enter the January transfer market, but that’s not to say Andrea Berta will have the month off — the club will already be drawing up plans for the summer window. [@gunnerblog]
