“I will be whatever this team needs me to be” - Mikel Merino (29 G/A - 2025)
@Sebol1946: tak
@pioafc napisał: "No Raya to mega wyciągnął"
To prawda
No teraz fart
Merino!!
@Topek napisał: "Ciekawe że Thiago na ławce. Chyba Brentford pogodziło się z porażką"
Zszedł ostatnio z urazem
No no, jest rotacja, a ławka mocarna
Arsenal: Raya, White, Mosquera, Hincapie, Calafiori , Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard, Madueke, Martinelli, Merino.
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Timber, Lewis-Skelly, Norgaard, Nwaneri, Eze, Saka, Jesus, Gyokeres
Some big names rotated today
Fpl guys wont be happy
Jesus arriving with the squad for a home game for the first time since January.
Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Jean-Matteo Bahoya (20) ahead of the summer transfer window. Eintracht Frankfurt value the player at up to €70m. [@Plettigoal]
There are no strong suggestions Arsenal will adopt a multi-club model, like Chelsea & Manchester City, any time soon. [@SamJDean]
Arsenal’s fresh youth recruitment drive is being led primarily by technical director James Ellis. Within the club, there has been a sense in recent years that the standard of their academy teams has simply NOT been good enough.
There is a high ceiling for talent, as shown by Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly & Max Dowman, but there is also a low floor. The hope is that targeting young players in the 16-18 age range will help raise the overall standards of the academy teams.
Arsenal believe a higher quality of training & greater internal competition in the youth ranks would lead to more of their players being ready for the transition to first-team football. [@SamJDean]
Mikel Arteta has said Declan Rice can develop into a genuine long-throw specialist.
Arteta: “Everything has to evolve. I don’t know how good he was [at throw-ins] a year ago, or two years ago or three years ago.
“I know how good Declan was at taking set pieces three or four years ago and I know how good he is now. So, it does not happen overnight.
“Things have to be trained, evolved and tweaked. And the player has to believe as well, which is key.
“He can become anything he wants. When you look at Declan, he can do almost everything you require him to do.” #AFC
Arteta says Arsenal’s injuries have been worse than ever before in some areas: “This season has been the worst in some areas, especially in the front line, and now what's happening with the back line. But yeah, we learned and we were able to put that together, a squad that is much more reliable and has more options.
“We learned from the past as well that we have to use players in different positions, and they have to be able to fulfill different roles if we want to compete at this level.“
Arteta tells @sr_collings about Havertz’s injury set-back a few weeks ago: “Yeah, so he was doing everything he could, not go to the next level, and now it's looking like we have unlocked that.
“We're all desperate to have him. It's a player that, personally, I love so much for what he brings to the team, but his character, his personality, I see him suffer being outside.
“His playing record, he's phenomenal, he's been always available and I can't wait to have him back around the team playing now because I think it's going to be a massive push for the team.”
Arteta to @iamAlexHowell on the frustrating timing of injuries for Arsenal: “Yeah, especially how we lost them with Leo [Trossard] as well, because Leo was in a great moment and Gabi Martininelli was just coming back, and we had to manage his minutes.
“He wasn't able to play more than what he did on Sunday. So managing that, the fact that obviously Willy [Saliba] trained the day before and then he wasn't comfortable, players not training in certain positions, having to play there.
“But again, the attitude towards it and the way the players are performing and giving absolutely everything they can to fulfill those absences has been the key of the season because we have to deal with a lot already.“
Arteta on set-pieces: “I don't know what team in the Premier League doesn't like to score from set-pieces. Well, we just conceded a goal against Chelsea on a set-piece, and they scored seven corners, we [Arsenal] scored eight.
“So I think we should all be set-piece teams because we always score and concede from set-pieces.”
Arteta on injuries: “I'm not going to be able to help you much today because we have another training session later on. Until that happens, we won't know what's going to happen with a few of the doubts that we have.”
“He had a little niggle [Saliba], but I think it's going to be a matter of days. Let's see if he's able to do that tomorrow. A matter of days too [for Trossard].
“A matter of weeks [for Havertz]. Let's see how it evolves in the next few weeks [if he will be available by the end of December]. He's doing really well; he's doing stuff on the pitch, but I think he needs some time. Big Gabi. Big Gabi's doing very well as well, but that's weeks as well.”
Arteta on Declan Rice on winning the FSA: “I think he's very close to what we believed that he could bring to the club, to the team, and the way he could grow personally as well. I think he fully deserves it.
“I think he's been incredibly consistent throughout the last two years, last season again. Again, in big matches, in big moments, he's stepping up, which is a massive thing. You want to fulfil that role at a big club, and I'm delighted that he got it.”
Arteta on Merino exceeding his expectations: “Yes, a striker is certainly not, but that's the thing as well that you learn when you sign a player I knew that he could offer much more than what he had, and especially after I met him for the first time, because a player that has that amount of curiosity and the amount of questions that he has, how willing he is to learn constantly, the way he loves his profession and football.
“It's difficult to put limits to that, because when someone wants to grow every single day, it's that determined, that hungry to win and evolve, and to be part of something that's very powerful, and Mikel [Merino] certainly has that.”
Arteta says Arsenal tried to sign David Raya years before they signed him: “He's an amazing goalkeeper. It's a great story as well, and how it happened because as well we tried to sign David [Raya] much earlier. I think it was as soon as I arrived, almost, and he had to wait for another two years. The start that he had and the journey that we had together I think it's been phenomenal for us, and I'm very happy to have him.”
Arteta: “Our motivation comes from preparation and how we prepare for every game to try to be better than the position and where we are in the league and what we are doing.
“I mean, I don't think we need any more motivation than that. Rotation, we've seen a lot of minutes for really busy week. We try to manage every case, every individual, in relation to how they feel in the context of the matches, but just with the only purpose to have the best options on the pitch and to come to to be better than the opponent. That's it, opportunity for everybody as I said.”
Arteta on Havertz: “We are all desperate to have him. I mean it is a player that, personally, I love so much for what he brings to the team - his character, his personality. I see him suffer, being outside.”
Arteta reiterates that fans need to be in their seat ready for the 7:30pm kick off against Brentford: “That's an opportunity tomorrow at 7:30pm. Everybody, 7:30pm. kickoff to be at the Emirates, bouncing and putting energy to win again.
“That's the opportunity that we have tomorrow at 7:30pm. Like animals, everybody at the Emirates to go again and beat Brentford. That's the opportunity.”
Arteta on Saliba: "I am not going to be able to help you much today as we have another training session."
"He had a little niggle, but I think it's going to be a matter of days."
Trossard: "Matter of days."
@Matelko napisał: "do potencjalnego półfinału mecze rewanżowe rozgrywane na własnym stadionie."
Zajmując miejsca 1-2 możemy mieć rewanż u siebie aż do półfinału:)
