Arsenal hold an interest in Victor Valdepenas (19). Well-placed sources have told BBC Sport the player has been heavily scouted in recent months. Arsenal are yet to make a formal offer, but internal discussions towards a potential approach have taken place. [@SamiMokbel_BBC]
BBC Sport sources have confirmed there has been interest in Corinthians midfielder Brent Bidon (20) from Arsenal, but other prospects are ahead of the player on their list. [@SamiMokbel_BBC]
Mikel Arteta explains why Arsenal opted to sign Viktor Gyokeres over Benjamin Sesko:
"Someone very direct, very powerful, a proper 9 that has the goal between the eyes and someone that can stretch the pitch for us a bit more, especially when we have to play against certain opposition."
Arteta on the Premier League being Arsenal’s to lose: “I don't think nobody has probably more motivation, more hunger, more desire for us to go all the way and win it.
“But we know that the only way to do it is focusing and being very present in the moment and doing everything that we have to do today. Do it better than tomorrow and that's it.
That's the only thing that we can control and the rest is just the things that they don't add any value to us and they can take the focus to the wrong place.”
Arteta on being able to be unpredictable with his team selection with a large amount of quality to choose from: “I think that's always very positive, but for the players as well, because that means that they have to raise their standards in training to earn the right to play the next day.
“And the next day you don't know how many minutes because, The moment we want to change the game, we're going to have options.
“That's something that mostly in the last few years we haven't had for different reasons and it's something that once we have it, we have to make sure that we use it in the right way to be a better team.”
Arteta on Kai Havertz to @gunnerblog: “He's very close. Obviously, he's been out for a long time, almost a year for different reasons and now we have to be very smart in the manner that we manage that load, the minutes.
“I'm sure in the next few weeks he's going to play minutes. I cannot tell you in which competition because that will depend as well on the game context and it's a context that is positive to throw him in or not with his qualities. It's great that we have him. We can use him in different positions. We will see him in different positions. And we are really happy to have him.
On the importance of having Kai available during the run in: “Yes, because after a long-term injury, it's not only the period that you come in, it's what happens in the next six to eight weeks. And we want to maintain that and manage that really well so, after we can creep it up as you said, when all the big, big games are coming up, and we have to make sure that everybody is in the right mind and physically at the highest level.”
Al Nassr are viewed as a genuine contender for Gabriel Martinelli, with Arsenal open to a sale. The player was NOT interested in a move to Saudi last summer & it remains to be seen whether he will change his mind after the 2026 World Cup. @JacobsBen]
Arteta was asked about defensive low blocks in the Premier League by @TomCantonMedia: “That is one of the weapons that is necessary because a lot of teams are doing that. But as well we can see more and more the man-to-man game that is conquering not only the Premier League but Europe, I think, as well you need to dominate all the phases in the game if you want to have the chance to win major trophies.”
Arteta on who will start against Man Utd after goals from Jesus and Gyokeres against Inter: “It's exactly what you want from the striker. It's the same that Viktor [Gyokeres] did, but at the end you have to pick what you think is the best team to start against a different opposition, a different context, and then how you're going to finish the game as well. So tomorrow evening or the morning of the match, we will decide that.”
Arteta on Pep Guardiola saying Arsenal are “the best team in the world”: “It's always much better to hear positive things about your team and the work that you are doing.
“But obviously, that's a big word, especially because, in my opinion, to be related to that, you have to win a lot of things, and we haven't, but we certainly have there.
“The purpose to be is the best version that that we can be every single day and we're not going to stop till we achieve.”
Arteta on Havertz potentially doubting his body after being out so long: “I don't think so because he's a player that has an unbelievable track record, and what happened, okay, it happened.
“You have to go through that in your career at least once. He's gone through that period that has enabled him as well to learn more about the game, his body, and probably about how much he loves playing and how difficult is his life when football is not a big part of that.
“He looks really, really hungry and I'm sure we're going to see a very good version of Kai [Havertz].
Arsenal are exploring the possibility of launching a summer move for Julian Alvarez, sources have told ESPN. Sources in Spain suggest Atletico Madrid would demand a fee in excess of €100m this summer, if they were willing to sell at all.
Andrea Berta negotiated Alvarez’s €95m transfer from Manchester City in August 2024 & sources suggest he retains a close relationship with the player’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo & his camp.
The exact nature of Arsenal’s contact is unclear, but sources suggest club officials have made informal enquiries to determine whether a deal would be possible before weighing up whether to formalise their interest later in the year. [@JamesOlley]
Arteta on Carrick: “Michael coming in is going to bring new ideas. Always the intensity rises up. You could see in Manchester, the kind of behaviours and the game that they played. So, yeah, we expect a really tough match and we will adapt to that for sure, but we are at home and we know how important that game is for us.”
Arteta on Nwaneri: “I think the deal is quite close, it's something that we constantly have to be monitoring. I think the talented young players that we have, they need minutes and in this case, Ethan wasn't having enough minutes.
“The last thing that we want is to cut his development because he's such a talent and someone that lives and breathes football. That's his life.
“After having a discussion with him, with his father, the agent and the club, we decided that the best thing to do was to leave and go on loan, and then we have to pick the right place.”
Arteta on Nwaneri playing under Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille: “A really courageous manager in the way he plays, but when he plays with young talent as well, and he has a big track record about that.
“I think it fits the way of playing for the qualities that we want to see for Ethan so it's going to be a great experience for him.”
Arteta on facing Man Utd: “Every game is different. At the end, the individuals are the ones that make the difference. That makes the game in a certain way. We're going to try to be ourselves, be very dominant like we always want to be, impose the game that we want to play, regardless of what we want to do. We want to take the game in the areas that are very good for us.“
Arteta on Gyokeres being partnered with Havertz: “We have different relationships around him [Gyokeres] as well because Kai [Havertz] is a player that can play in the two attacking midfield positions. So we can vary in relation to the opponent, their behaviour and the game that we want to play. So that's very good.”

Arteta says they will make a decision tomorrow as to whether Calafiori and Hincapie are in the squad to face Man United on Sunday. Both trained today.
Adds club being "smart" with Havertz's minutes as he builds up to full fitness.
Arteta on whether Hincapie and Calafiori will be available to play against United this weekend: “We have another training session. We will see tomorrow after that. After Inter we had no [injury] issues reported.” #AFC
Mikel Arteta says the experience of William Saliba on loan in Marseille and the opportunity to work with Roberto De Zerbi were key reasons for Ethan Nwaneri being sent to the French club for the remainder of this season.
Pep Guardiola: “Arsenal are the best team in the WORLD right now”.
“We will try to have a chance to catch them”.
@Marcinafc93 napisał: "a może jednak będą do dyspozycji :)"
Mnie to nie zdziwi, jak Calafiori był po prostu na ten mecz przygotowywany.
Arsenal get MAJOR injury boost ahead of Manchester United.
Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie both return to training. Mikel Arteta set to speak on the pair in the next hour.
The Deloitte Money league published yesterday shows Arsenal had a 15% increase in revenues during the 24/25 season to a record GBP 691m.
TV money from UEFA and the PL was GBP 273m (40%), commercial / sponsorships GBP 264m (38%) and matchday income although a sizeable GBP 154m was "only" 22% of the total for the season.
This ranks Arsenal 7th in Europe by revenue and 3rd in the PL behind Liverpool (GBP 703m) and Man City (GBP 697m).
Gabriel Jesus has decided to sign with Giovanni Branchini as new agent with immediate effect.
The Italian agent will be #AFC striker’s new representative.
Arsenal have concerns over Kai Havertz’s fitness, after his knee flared up on his recent return from injury. There are fears it could have long-term ramifications that could see the club forced to settle for prolonged management of his game time. [@IsaanKhan_]

@David_Ornstein on potential future incomings: “Arsenal were considering Julian Alvarez in the summer, his name came up. You could see that sort of player coming into Arsenal. If there’s going to be outward manoeuvring, then there is definitely scope for an arrival [in attacking positions].”
“I think right-back is an interesting area for Arsenal that has probably been on their long-term agenda. It wouldn’t surprise me if they’re looking around there. Names? I don’t know.”
“That [attacker & right-back] & adding another central midfielder for depth - Norgaard appears to have been sensible, but you don’t know how long that will continue.” [Sky Sports Transfer Show]

Piero Hincapié is closing in on a return to full training. As Arteta says lets see how he reacts to the increased intensity in training.
Also, Timber contract talks are described as smooth sailing and a matter of “when” not “if”. LONG term deal soon
@David_Ornstein on Nwaneri: “The thinking behind it was for this four months ahead, Arsenal want Ethan Nwaneri to get games, Nwaneri will want to be playing & Marseille see him as ideal for the position they’ve been needing to fill in their team.”
“De Zerbi spoke directly to Arteta, Arteta wanted Nwaneri to go to Marseille & to play under De Zerbi - that’s how highly he rates De Zerbi & the club. Nwaneri, to our knowledge, is very attracted to it as well.”
“You could say why didn’t he stay & be part of the squad that may lift trophies? This is his boyhood club, they don’t want him to go, I presume he doesn’t want to go anywhere longer-term.”
“Arsenal could go on to even greater success in the years ahead & he will see himself as wanting to be part of that. If that’s going to be the case, maybe sadly, you have to sacrifice this period of time to be able to hit the ground running in the future.” [Sky Sports Transfer Show]
