Arsenal are weighing up whether to proceed in their attempt to sign Bruno Guimarães, after they were initially led to believe he could move for only £50m. Arsenal would still like to sign Guimarães, but have been surprised by Newcastle’s rigid stance on his asking price.

Newcastle have been told about the numbers Arsenal are willing to offer. With add-ons, those numbers have never reached more than £60m. In those talks with intermediaries, the Newcastle hierarchy has made it clear they would demand a fee similar to the £100m Tottenham paid for Sandro Tonali.

Guimarães’ representatives have tried to pressure Newcastle into selling, even arguing they should allow a player in the peak years of his career to move to a club playing in the Champions League. They claim their client has given everything to Newcastle, but the time is right for him to move on.

Guimarães will push for a departure only if Arsenal make a bid that gets close to Newcastle’s valuation. As things stand, he knows that is NOT the case & is scheduled to return to pre-season training at the end of this month. [@LukeEdwardsTele]

Arsenal are attempting to get a deal for Julian Alvarez done before pre-season, as the options for the player appear to have lessened due to politics. Alvarez is open to an Arsenal move, but his preference had been to stay in Spain, with either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Alvarez has long been Mikel Arteta’s main attacking target, but Arsenal naturally looked at other targets as the deal seemed complicated. A prior issue has been that they don’t want to go above £90m, whereas Atletico want north of £100m. [@MiguelDelaney]

Na pewno nie będzie ich w okresie przygotowawczym i w pierwszych kolejkach, co logiczne, ale jeśli będą dobre transfery, to nie h spokojnie się regenerują.MLS, Nwaneri, Dowman będą mogli coś pograć z ławki, czy nawet w podstawie. Generalnie to chyba jeszcze 10 naszych grajków na mundialu jest, to tylko pokazuje jaka kadrę zbudowaliśmy w ostatnim czasie.

Bo pomimo że mamy hajs, nie chcemy go głupio przepalać jak dawniej, i jak inne kluby, a jednocześnie nie mamy tyle hajsu jak City, bo model finansowy klubu jest inny i od dawna wiemy, że Kroenke chce, żebyśmy byli samowystarczalni docelowo. Więc z jednej strony mamy na grube transfery, ale z drugiej chcemy rozsądnie wydawać. I teraz jeśli osoby odpowiedzialne za transfery, stwierdza że warto dać daną kwotę za nasze cele, to zapłacą, jeśli ocenią że to za dużo, to odpuszczą. Generalnie my jako kibice nie mamy pojęcia jak to wygląda na zapleczu, ile realnie dany transfer będzie kosztował klub( prowizje agentów, tygodniówki, amortyzacja itd) i nie my odpowiadamy za to, jak wydany będzie hajs. To nie nasze pieniądze, więc generalnie mi np wisi za ile przyjdzie zawodnik, jeśli zapłacą dużo, czy mało i tak samo rozumiem, że mogą ocenić że taki 16 latek nie jest wart kwoty jaką dało City ( choć dla wielu kibiców to grosze, a jednak nadal za kogoś kto w PL nie pograł i jest dzieciakiem). I myślę że kolega nie pomija aspektu finansowego, wręcz przeciwnie, stwierdza , że dzięki ostatnim inwestycjom stać nas na więcej, bez obaw o to, że za gotowego zawodnika za 3 lata nie dostaniemy nic, bo tacy zawodnicy mogą nam dać kolejne trofea, a co za tym idzie większy hajs, sponsorów i to odejście za free zamortyzuje się elegancko. Wystarczy spojrzeć na wpływy za ostatni sezon.

Kwestia pewnie żonglowania kwotami i jakiegoś marginesu, może mamy tę kwestię uzgodnioną z Joshem w kontekście planu finansowego na lato. Ja nie widzę sensu w tym zamartwianiu się kibiców w naszym obecnym położeniu, trochę jakaś fiksacja i nadgorliwość wjeżdża. A ryzyko ponosi się przy każdym transferze, niezależnie od wieku piłkarza. Ja bym założył, że w klubie wiedzą lepiej od nas co trzeba i można zrobić w trakcie okna pod kątem finansowym.

Widocznie nie musimy już w tym momencie wszystkich deali rozpatrywać w kategorii ryzyk finansowych, albo stopy zwrotu, bo jesteśmy na takim etapie projektu, że możemy się głównie skupić na tym jak wykonać te pół kroku do przodu, by sięgnąć w końcu po upragnioną LM i zdetronizować to cholerne PSG...28/29 lat to nie jest żaden piłkarski emeryt, gdybyśmy mieli rozpatrywać w kontekście co będzie jak się połamie za pół roku i nie odzyskamy kasy to większość topowych klubów na świecie nie kupowałaby takich graczy, a wiemy że tak nie jest, bo w każdej kadrze potrzebne jest doświadczenie. Zresztą kadrę dalej mamy niemal w kwiecie wieku (średnia 26,7), pozbędziemy się Trossarda, White'a, Norgaarda, Jesusa którzy tę średnią zawyżają i pewnie jeszcze zejdziemy ze średnią kupując młodszego Rogersa i kogoś na PO. Mamy super balans między młodością i doświadczeniem. Bruno to może być game changer, który winduje nasz środek pola - zawodnik lepszy niż Zubi i Norgaard. Może grać jako DP, jako 8. Może z Ricem współistnieć na boisku, albo być jego backupem, pełnić rolę podstawowej 6 gdy on będzie odpoczywał po mundialu, a my będziemy chcieli grać na 6 i 8. Albo grać w parze z Zubim double pivota. W środku pola poza tym jest mniejsze ryzyko regresu z powodu wieku, bo grają tam piłkarze którzy niekoniecznie bazują wyłącznie na szybkości i fizyczności. Dla mnie nawet za 80 mln powinniśmy go brać."

Bruno Guimarães is keen to move to Arsenal this summer, but is unsure whether to try & force his way out of Newcastle, with his current state of mind being described as ‘conflicted’ on how to proceed.

Contrary to claims from agents, who are trying to act as intermediaries in the transfer, Newcastle have NOT rejected a verbal offer from Arsenal. Their view is that this is an agent-led attempt to unsettle the player.

Newcastle have described suggestions they would be willing to accept an offer of around £60m as ‘farcical’ & believe the player would accept their decision to reject any bids of that size.

It is thought Arsenal have always doubted they would be able to get Guimarães this summer for a fee they are willing to pay, but until they make contact to discuss any bid, Newcastle do not know whether they will have a decision to make. [@LukeEdwardsTele]
